I have to disagree with ExMaple's post. The Mass-Driver has two strengths: close quarters combat and suppression. The explosive radius is required for it to act as a supressive weapon, and the power of the shots is required for it to be useful in close-quarters combat.
It is supposed to be better than the AR in close quarters combat, while also being a hard counter to Heavies.
Engage the Mass driver with an AR from behind a dip, or cover, or in a position where the splash cannot hit you. Additionally, the mass driver is sighted to 45 meters, strafing at 50 meters and most mass driver people will have trouble dealing any damage to you.
Get above the mass driver in areas such as catwalks, roofs, power-lines or on the opposite side of a dip or hill. Standing near the edge of a platform if you are both on it may cause most of his shots to fly over the edge harmlessly.
Run directly past the MD user and then engage from behind him.
Retreat and find a softer target if they are holding a funnel.
Use vehicles.
Bring more ARs to the fight, you don't have to fight solo. |

Then decide I believe that this is honestly the biggest factor in the mass-driver's popularity. Once aim assist (adhesion and magnetism) are returned, the AR and many hitscan weapons (better believe the scrambler pistol will make an overnight comeback) will be back to their former glory. |

Bring more ARs to the fight, you don't have to fight solo. Mass drivers seem to easy to use Too Easy I believe that being easy to use does not equate to over powered, unless you feel the Gallente Assault Rifle is overpowered? It is so simple and easy to use that it is attached to all starter fits to give new players the easiest weapon in the game when starting.
I feel that people are engaging the mass driver in the areas it is supposed to win at and are being surprised when they lose. It would be like standing still in front of a shot-gunner in close quarters combat, shooting at him while he shoots at you, and then running to the forums when you die even though there is a way to defeat him. |
